FIG Working Week Conference | BCEC
FIG Working Week + Locate25 was a large-scale, international conference and expo held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, bringing together over 1000 delegates from around the world across a full week of events.
Photographed for the Geospatial Council of Australia, the brief required comprehensive coverage across multiple days, venues, and event formats — from formal assemblies and conference sessions to evening receptions and social functions. With the event running over an extended period and forming a key moment in the organisation’s calendar, it was important that the photography captured both the scale of the program and the experience of those attending.
A week-long, multi-format international conference
With the conference spanning a full week and marking a repeat booking, the focus was on delivering consistent, high-quality coverage across every stage of the program.
Eleven events across multiple venues
The week’s program comprised eleven distinct events across multiple venues and formats. These included the Young Surveyors Conference, an opening General Assembly, a rooftop welcome reception at The Star, two days of plenary and conference sessions at BCEC, a survey mark unveiling, two dinner events, a closing General Assembly, and a farewell function.
Consistent coverage across day and evening events
By covering the evening events alongside the daytime program, I was able to build a strong rapport with the management team, presenters, and delegates, which allowed for a more consistent and natural set of images across the week.
Fast-turnaround highlights and full delivery
At the conclusion of each sub-event, a selection of ‘best of’ highlights was edited and delivered throughout the week, allowing the Geospatial Council of Australia to share updates across LinkedIn and Facebook in near real time.
Following the conference, the full set of edited images was delivered via an online gallery, which has since been viewed by attendees around the world.
A large-scale event built on trust
Photographing an event of this scale was both demanding and rewarding, and I’m grateful to the team at the Geospatial Council of Australia for the trust they placed in me across the full week.
