QTU Biennial Women’s Conference | voco, Brisbane City
Taking place every second year, the Queensland Teachers' Union Women's Conference brings together women from across Queensland for a day of learning, conversation and connection.
I was invited to photograph the 2026 conference in Brisbane, documenting the speakers and presentations alongside the interactions and candid moments unfolding throughout the day. With around 150 delegates attending, there was a wonderful energy in the room - thoughtful and engaged, but also warm, relaxed and frequently very funny.
The program covered a broad range of issues affecting women in education and the workplace, with presentations, workshops and plenty of opportunity for delegates to contribute to the conversation. Keynote speaker Steph Tisdell brought a particularly memorable mix of humour and honesty, moving between comedy and more personal, vulnerable stories and creating a genuine connection with the audience.
Away from the stage, much of the story was in the smaller moments - conversations around the tables, questions from the floor, shared laughter and the hands-on activities woven through the program. These are often the moments I enjoy photographing most at conferences: the interactions that show not only what happened, but something of what it felt like to be there.
This was my first time working with the Queensland Teachers' Union, and it was lovely to receive this feedback after delivering the finished gallery:
