Young Guns Launch Gala at Howard Smith Wharves
The Young Guns Container Crew season launch gala was held at Howard Smith Wharves, bringing the team together to celebrate the start of the year following their 2024 kick-off conference.
The evening combined a relaxed social atmosphere with the company’s annual awards presentation, creating a mix of informal moments and structured proceedings that required balanced coverage throughout the event.
A relaxed season launch and awards night
The brief focused on capturing a well-rounded record of the evening — from guests enjoying the event and award recipients being recognised, to the styling and set-up details that shaped the atmosphere.
With the event taking place at Bougainvillea House, it was also important to document the venue and surrounding views, which played a strong role in the look and feel of the night.
Photographing a smaller-scale event
As a more intimate event, the approach was centred on working discreetly and allowing moments to unfold naturally. This created opportunities to capture candid interactions, wider shots of the space as it transitioned from day into evening, and detail-driven imagery that reflects the character of the event.
A mix of natural light, ambient evening light, and longer exposures was used to document the setting as the event progressed.

The final gallery delivered a broad selection of images that the client could use across social media and internal communications, capturing both the celebratory nature of the evening and the key moments of recognition.
